Mike Fisher’s ‘One-Way Ticket’ Letter Brought Carrie Underwood To Tears

While Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher have made a beautiful life for themselves in Nashville, their relationship started out long-distance, even after they got married.

In a recent letter to The Player’s Tribute, Mike opens up about hockey, being traded, and what Nashville Predator fans have done for his career. A letter, that Carrie admitted above, made her cry.

The letter, called ‘One-Way Ticket,’ starts off with Mike finding out that, after 11 seasons with the Ottawa Senators, he was being traded. News that came as a heavy blow, until he heard that he was being traded to Nashville. A move, he later found out, was in the works by the owner and GM during trade talks. Their goal: to get Mike to be with Carrie.

Mike dives into how the Nashville community has embraced the Predators more over the past few years, and how the fans are the ones who gave them the extra energy needed in game 6 of the Stanley Cup playoffs this past year when it was 1am and the team was going into their third overtime.

“But our fans carried us. I’ll never forget it. There’s this spot at the Bridgestone Arena where the fans can stand behind a rope and give us fist-bumps as we walk down the tunnel. They’re right there, and it’s always cool. But this time, we were walking out and triple the usual number of fans  were packed into that space, and they were going absolutely nuts.

I mean, nuts.

I can’t even describe the passion. You had to see their faces. It was like they were collectively                       willing us to get that goal. It was the adrenaline shot for us. When we got to the bench, everybody               just looked at each other like, Man, we gotta do this for them.”

Living in Chicago, we understand that hockey passion. Hearing those words gave me chills.

I highly recommend reading the full letter HERE.

Also, remember this adorable moment from earlier this year??
