Our Favorite Drivers Pick Their Favorite Music

Author: Jonathan West

As I learned a long time ago, not every country music listener is a NASCAR fan, but almost every racing fan is a country music listener! Well, times might be changing as I talked today in Bridgeport to a few Sprint Cup drivers about their favorite music right now…

My favorite driver’s brother Kurt Busch (#41 Monster Energy Chevy) loves Garth Brooks, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn & once even introduced Montgomery Gentry on-stage! (Photo by Sarah Crabill/NASCAR via Getty Images)

A California boy like me, Kevin Harvick (#4 Jimmy John’s Chevy) these days is really diggin’ the new Jake Owen album American Love & the Steve Moakler song “Love Drunk” (Photo: Jonathan West / US99)

My favorite driver’s teammate Carl Edwards (#19 Arris Toyota) like listening to the folk sounds of the Avett Brothers. He may silence his phone, but he told me he’ll never silence the radio! (Photo: Jonathan West / US99)

Wisconsin-born Matt Kenseth (#20 DeWalt Toyota) is NOT a fan of country music- but besides catching up on news in the family car, his kids dictate what’s on the radio…including Taylor Swift! Matt is a rock guy, and likes the new Volbeat album. (Photo: Jonathan West / US99)

With all the media attention today, I didn’t get to catch Tony Stewart for comment. But according to a Rolling Stone article, he likes Led Zeppelin. (Photo: Jonathan West / US99)

But country music is still king when it comes to racing! Check out the list of driver introduction songs last month at Bristol HERE.

“The Chase” for the Championship is the top 16 drivers over the last 10 races in the 2016 season. It all starts this Sunday with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. I’ll have more from Joliet this weekend & don’t miss our US*99 setup at the track starting at 8AM!
