FIRST GUEST: Lisa Gardner, New York Times best-selling author whose new book Crash & Burn just hit bookstores and e-book sellers on February 3rd, 2015

Somehow, Nicky Frank survived the car crash. Maybe it was her motherly instinct to find her missing daughter. Or maybe it was her need to get back to her loving husband.

Except there’s a problem: Nicky’s daughter doesn’t exist. And upon further investigation, police are concerned that maybe her husband isn’t the loving man he portrays himself to be.

From page one, readers will be taken on a wild ride of dramatic twists and surprises that will keep you guessing until author Lisa Gardner wraps it all up on the book’s final page.

Because of the meticulous research Gardner does with real police detectives and medical professionals, Crash & Burn brings these characters to life in a truly believable way.

Listen as Gardner tells us about the creative process she goes through as a writer, and if she thinks Crash & Burn could be turned into a movie. She also explains how you can “Kill a Friend and Maim a Buddy” by submitting the name of someone you know to be included in a future book!

SECOND GUEST: Amanda Bickell, co-founder of the Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation, creating awareness for “pit bull” type dogs and working with them to assist abused children.

Every month, Bryan Bickell, #29 of the Blackhawks, and his wife Amanda find an adoptable “pit bull” type dog that needs a home through the Bickell Foundation’s Bick’s Pits program.

You may have heard about Adam Cheung, who recently lost his battle to cancer.

He was a Blackhawks fan who was given a FaceTime tour of the Blackhawks locker room by #29 Bryan Bickell. He also was a dog lover and had a “pit bull” type dog of his own.

In honor of Adam, this month’s Bick’s Pit is a puppy who was rescued on the south side of Chicago. The pup had makeshift bandages on and was seriously hurt.

Hi! My name is Adam! I'm a puppy looking for my forever home. Is there any room for me at your place? Go to to learn more about me! Thanks!

The Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation has partnered with Players for Pits to help the pup– now named Adam to honor his namesake’s resilience and legacy– with his medical needs and fostering.

He’s up to date on his shots, and is great with kids, other dogs, and even cats! Oh, and he’s SUPER CUTE, too.

Adam was fostered and is now on the mend, looking for his forever home. Could it be yours?
