Scotty McCreery is honoring veterans today with a special video tribute.
During his live shows, McCreery regularly includes “The Dash,” a song from his current album See You Tonight that pays tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice with their service.
In concert, McCreery accompanies his performance of the song with a video created by Josh Carter that highlights the life of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew Carpenter, who passed away in 2011 while on active duty in Afghanistan.
For Veterans Day today (Nov. 11), McCreery has now posted the video on his social media sites.
“This video, has been a part of my show over the past year,” McCreery wrote in a message on his Facebook page. “Honored to share ‘The Dash’ as a tribute to all Veterans. This video, created by Josh Carter, is based on the true story of Marine Lance Corporal Andrew Carpenter, a Columbia TN native, who came under enemy fire on Valentine’s Day, 2011, during his second tour in Afghanistan. Andrew passed away 5 days later. His wife, Crissie, (the cousin of my bass player Nathan Thomas,) was expecting their first child. Thank you Crissie and Nathan for sharing your family’s story with us. It is a great reminder of the sacrifice our military-and their families-make for us.”
