The ACM Honors are tonight in Nashville, and Kenny Chesney will be honored with the Crystal Milestone Award for his promotion of country music throughout his career. One of the guys that inspired Kenny has been Kix Brooks.
“Kix and I have been friends a long time,” Kenny says. “I really respect him a lot as a survivor in a business that’s hard to survive in. I think the reason he’s done that is because his foundation is from the songwriting end of it. He treats people very well, and he’s treated me great. I look up to Kix a lot.”
Kenny will accept his award at the Ryman Auditorium tonight.
Luke Bryan will also be at the Ryman to honor songwriter Dallas Davidson, who wrote Luke’s hits Country Girl and I Don’t Want This Night to End. The two guys go way back.
“The fact that Dallas and I are in this business together…” Luke says, “we’ll go fishin’ or huntin’ and shake our heads and giggle… The history between [him and me] is just so deep. It’s amazing that I can have the opportunity to honor him. Gosh, the fact that he and I have even written big hits is just borderline comical!”
Taylor Swift revealed one more song from her forthcoming album Red, in stores October 22nd. You can hear each new song at midnight at the iTunes store as they are revealed.
