New music is out today including Little Big Town’s fifth studio album Tornado, which includes their very first #1 hit Pontoon, which was a long time coming.
“We’re like every struggling artist in this town,” Karen of LBT says. “I think we’re the story that maybe gives them hope that it will happen if they just keep working hard. We weren’t the band that came out and the first record exploded and the first record went number one. It took us a while….”
Also out today is Kix Brooks’s first solo album since Brooks & Dunn. (He also had a solo release before Brooks & Dunn.) Even though he’s a legend in country music, Kix says the title of this new album New To This Town is appropriate.
“It’s very much like starting over to me,” Kix reveals. “And the whole title ‘I Wish I Was New To This Town’–on one level wish that wasn’t all these preconceived notions and there will always be the comparisons. Ronnie is obviously a great singer, but I don’t do what Ronnie does. I like to think that we had success ’cause we both had something to offer.”
Blake Shelton is back on The Voice tonight.
And happy birthday to Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum who turns 31 today.
